ConnectWise has launched a new Australian data center for its Axcient x360Recover business continuity and disaster recovery platform, expanding the service across Asia-Pacific. The announcement was made on the opening day of IT Nation Connect ANZ 2026, taking place Aug. 26-28 in Sydney. The expansion allows managed service providers and IT teams to store backup data within Australia while positioning recovery infrastructure closer to local workloads.
The new facility carries SOC 2 Type II certification and is intended to cut latency for backup and recovery operations throughout the region. Partners across Asia-Pacific can now choose to store x360Recover backup data in Australia to meet customer expectations and requirements around data residency. The platform supports both direct-to-cloud and appliance-based deployments, enabling partners to protect cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments through a single business continuity and disaster recovery offering. The environment is available now to x360Recover partners across the broader APAC region.
Rob D'Amico, senior vice president of APAC go-to-market at ConnectWise, said that "data residency and recovery confidence are operational requirements for APAC partners, not tick-box features." According to the company, a completed backup doesn't necessarily guarantee that systems can be restored when needed, highlighting the importance of automated integrity testing as part of organizations' recovery frameworks. Alexander Slade, CEO of A Corp Computers, noted that with an Australian data center now available, the company can bring x360Recover capability "to a much broader range of compliance-driven and data-sensitive organisations, without compromising on data sovereignty."
The Australian infrastructure supports several operational capabilities designed to improve recovery confidence and efficiency. The platform integrates automated backup integrity testing, allowing partners to regularly verify that protected systems and data can be recovered. x360Recover is integrated into the ConnectWise Platform in APAC, including the recently released Attack-to-Recovery integration with ConnectWise SIEM, which connects cybersecurity and recovery workflows to help partners move more efficiently from incident detection to restoration. The system offers hardware-agnostic deployment options and centralized management across customer environments to reduce the operational burden on technicians responsible for backup and recovery.
ConnectWise plans to follow the Australian x360Recover launch in September with the release of x360Cloud for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup, further expanding its data protection offerings in the region. Existing partners will receive onboarding information through their ConnectWise account teams and partner resources, supported by documentation and adoption guidance. Jordan Jilg, managing director at Rummage Technical, said the expansion could help the company move beyond traditional backup services and toward delivering "true operational resilience" for customers facing cyber incidents. The timing of the infrastructure rollout reflects growing pressure on service providers to address both compliance requirements and the operational realities of cyber incident response, where geographic proximity can determine whether recovery timelines meet business tolerance levels. For partners operating across distributed markets, the ability to match data residency policy with recovery performance creates a competitive advantage that wasn't previously available through offshore-only infrastructure.
