Anthropic released Claude Dashboards on Thursday, a beta feature that lets users build live dashboards from enterprise data sources and export them to business intelligence tools, according to a report from The New Stack. The launch arrives roughly one month after OpenAI introduced a similar data agent for ChatGPT Work. Alongside Dashboards, Anthropic also rolled out Claude Motion, which uses code to animate reports and charts, while moving Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta.
Claude Dashboards connects to enterprise data platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, and ClickHouse. Users describe what they want to see, and Claude generates dashboards that refresh as data changes, with timestamps showing the last update for each chart. Clicking any number reveals the SQL query behind it, and users who prefer not to read code can ask Claude to explain the figure instead. Dashboards can be exported to services like Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, monday.com, Omni, PostHog, or Sigma, with support for Looker, Perplexity, and Tableau coming later. Since Anthropic doesn't have a video model, Claude Motion creates animations by writing code to move text, charts, and images, allowing users to edit the clips before exporting them to MP4. Users have created more than 45 million documents, decks, and designs since Docs, Slides, and Design entered beta on September 16.
An Anthropic spokesperson told The New Stack that dashboards "start private to you" and use the data access people already have. When shared, each viewer's own connections run the queries by default, so people see only data they're already authorized to access. On Enterprise plans, Dashboards is turned off by default until an admin enables it in organization settings, and dashboards remain inside the organization unless an owner activates external sharing. Artifacts, Anthropic's term for the documents, decks, and dashboards Claude creates, now support customer-managed encryption keys, and admins can control which artifact templates users see.
The report notes that both Anthropic and OpenAI are moving beyond simply being token providers to climb higher up the enterprise productivity stack, where the real money sits. Snowflake signed a $200 million deal with Anthropic in December 2025, yet OpenAI's Data agent announcement included endorsements from product leaders at both Snowflake and Databricks. The warehouse vendors aren't sitting idle either, as both have their own natural-language analytics tools: Snowflake Intelligence and Databricks Genie. Anthropic says Claude Dashboards will support semantic models if they're exposed through a connector, though OpenAI currently supports semantic layers like Databricks Genie Ontology. Users of the standalone Claude Design site, which launched in April, have until December 14 to migrate, though their chats and comments won't transfer. The competitive dynamics suggest enterprises may soon face a choice between AI assistants deeply integrated with their data infrastructure and specialized tools from the warehouse vendors themselves, with each path carrying different implications for vendor lock-in and workflow consolidation.
