Just one year after its initial rollout, Oracle AI Database@AWS has reached global scale with availability in 22 AWS regions spanning Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, according to an announcement from Oracle and AWS. The expansion is part of a strategic collaboration designed to speed up customer migration by offering enterprises a more affordable way to move Oracle databases and link them with AWS analytics and AI services. Oracle also made its Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure generally available, targeting lower-cost migrations for business-critical workloads.
The Exascale infrastructure allows customers to define compute and storage capacity while distributing each database across pooled storage servers to maintain high performance and availability, the companies said. New capabilities added over the past year include Oracle Autonomous Database Serverless, which lets customers build and run fully managed databases without provisioning infrastructure, and sub-200 microsecond application-to-database latency for latency-sensitive workloads like OLTP systems and ERP applications. Seamless integration with AWS services enables customers to apply Amazon Bedrock, Amazon QuickSight, and Amazon SageMaker directly to Oracle data, while support for Platinum Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture helps improve resiliency and accelerate application performance for mission-critical workloads.
"This momentum demonstrates that enterprises want a simpler, lower-cost path to modernize their most important Oracle workloads within AWS environments," said Nathan Thomas, senior vice president of product management at Oracle. According to the announcement, enterprises across industries like financial services and retail are already using Oracle AI Database@AWS to migrate core workloads to the cloud, integrate data across Oracle and AWS, accelerate AI adoption, and simplify management. The Metropolitan Transport Authority of Barcelona, a public agency responsible for the transportation system of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region, uses the service to improve operational efficiency and make smarter decisions about public transportation services.
The continued investment in Oracle AI Database@AWS under the new strategic collaboration agreement is meant to give customers a faster, lower-risk path to running workloads alongside AWS AI and analytics services they already use, the companies explained. Global systems integrators are helping customers adopt the solution, with eligible AWS Partner Network and Oracle Partner Network members able to resell Oracle AI Database@AWS through AWS Channel Partner Private Offers. Qualified managed service provider partners can deliver managed services on behalf of customers, while Oracle Migration Accelerator helps fund migration services and offset migration costs, enabling partners to scale up larger transformation projects. Deloitte, which maintains strategic relationships with both Oracle and AWS, has helped organizations leverage the service to accelerate cloud migrations, optimize operations, and unlock AI-powered insights, the announcement noted. The partnership positions Oracle and AWS to capture demand from enterprises looking to modernize database infrastructure without re-architecting existing systems or compromising performance. For IT leaders weighing multicloud strategies, the collaboration signals that major vendors are increasingly willing to meet customers where they are rather than forcing platform-exclusive choices.
